The best non-surgical treatment for jowls depends on why your jawline is changing in the first place. For some, lost facial volume makes the jowls look more pronounced. For others, looser skin or declining collagen is the bigger issue at play. All this means your treatment for jowls will be personalized for you, your age patterns, and your goals. It may include jawline filler, Radiesse, Morpheus8, Sculptra, or a combination of these treatments. Our plan is to figure out what will address the root of your concerns before selecting a product.
Jowls happen when the lower face loses the support that holds the skin in place along a clean jawline. This usually develops because several changes are happening in your face at once: deep fat pads in the cheeks lose volume and shift downward, the ligaments loosen, and the skin loses collagen. The muscles in the lower face and neck may tug the face and jawline downward. And, in some cases, there is a shift in fat distribution along the jaw and neck.
All of this can lead to tissue that settles around the jawline. Each of these causes are why treatment of jowls can’t be one-size-fits-all.
At Vitality, we love and use four different non-surgical treatments for our clients experiencing jowling: dermal filler, Radiesse, Morpheus8, and Sculptra, and neuromodulators.
Volume loss around the cheeks, chin, and jawline, or the small hollow just in front of the jowl can make the lower face look less defined. In those cases, thoughtfully restoring support can create a smoother, more defined chin.
Intentional placement of dermal filler (internal link pending: /dermal-fillers) around the jaw can rebuild support in your lower face. Jawline filler for jowls works by re-establishing the contour the jaw used to have, so the jowl appears less prominent.
Standard Radiesse works similarly to dermal filler adding structural volume to the face, while also encouraging the body’s collagen production over time. Because of this, standard Radiesse is a product we recommend often for jowling. (internal link pending: /hyperdilute-radiesse).
If loose skin is the concern, we may recommend Morpheus8
Some patients have plenty of facial volume and still notice jowling. When the skin along the lower face has become loose or crepey, dermal filler won’t help. That’s where a skin-remodeling treatment can make more sense.
Morpheus8 (internal link pending: /morpheus8-treatment). combines microneedling with radiofrequency delivered beneath the skin. The controlled heat response is intended to stimulate remodeling and collagen production, gradually improving firmness and skin quality over a series of treatments.
Sculptra (internal link pending: /sculptra-aesthetic) for jowls takes an entirely different approach.
Rather than creating an immediate new contour in a specific location, Sculptra gradually stimulates your body’s own collagen production (internal link pending: Sculptra vs. Radiesse blog). That makes it especially useful when jowling is just one part of your overall aging patterns: reduced firmness through the cheeks, declining skin quality, and reduced support through the lower face.
With Sculptra, improvement happens gradually rather than creating the immediate definition you might see with a structural filler.
So, is Sculptra good for jowls?
For the right person, yes. But we wouldn’t think of it as a product that simply “lift the jowls.” It works by improving the face’s foundation and collagen support over time.
Sometimes, the muscles of the lower face and neck can pull skin downward that makes jowling or definition loss more noticeable.
We may recommend neuromodulators like Dysport or Xeomin to temporarily relax some of that muscle activity, helping the jawline appear smoother and more defined.
Comparison at a glance
You may experience more than one of these concerns. That’s why a combination of these jowl treatments is common to address the health and firmness of your skin.
| Main Concern | Treatment | Typical timeline |
| Structural volume loss | Dermal filler / standard Radiesse: rebuild jawline support | Visible soon after treatment |
| Skin laxity | Morpheus8: remodel and tighten deeper skin layers | Improves gradually over a series |
| Global collagen loss | Sculptra: gradual, broad collagen rebuilding | Builds over several months |
| Skin quality along jaw | Hyperdilute Radiesse: skin-quality support | Gradual improvement over several months |
| Muscles pulling skin downward | Xeomin and Dysport: temporarily relax contributing muscles | Gradual improvement after treatment |
If you have significant excess skin or more advanced tissue descent, a non-surgical treatment may soften the appearance of your jowls without giving you the degree of lifting you’re hoping for. In that case, Radiesse, Morpheus8, or Sculptra may not be the right treatment.
A responsible provider will say so directly rather than promising a lift that isn’t realistic for a given case, and may discuss surgical referral alongside non-surgical options when appropriate.
If you’re staring at your jawline wondering whether you need filler, Sculptra, Morpheus8, Radiesse—or something else entirely—you don’t have to figure it out from before-and-after photos online.
At our Haymarket clinic, we’ll assess your facial structure, skin quality, volume, and any changes you’re noticing. From there, we can recommend a treatment plan tailored to your face and goals.

The best non-surgical treatment for jowls depends on what’s causing them in your specific face: filler or Radiesse for volume loss, Morpheus8 for skin laxity, or Sculptra for broader collagen decline. A consultation at our Haymarket aesthetics practice is the only reliable way to match the cause to the right approach.
Yes, when the jowling is tied to the loss of structural support along the jawline. Dermal filler for jowls treatment works by rebuilding contour at the jaw and pre-jowl area rather than filling the jowl itself, which can make the jawline read as straighter.
Sculptra can be helpful for jowls when declining collagen and facial support are contributing to their appearance. Because it stimulates collagen gradually, results develop over time rather than producing an immediate change in jawline shape. Sculptra has also demonstrated improvement in jawline contour when injected into the cheek region.
offers structural support similar to filler, but it’s made of calcium hydroxylapatite and also stimulates some of the body’s own collagen over time. Standard Radiesse is used structurally along the jaw, while hyperdilute Radiesse is a separate technique aimed at skin quality rather than structural support, so the two shouldn’t be confused.
If skin laxity is the main issue, the best non-surgical jowl treatment can involve Morpheus8, which remodels and tightens deeper skin layers over a series of sessions rather than adding volume. Filler or Radiesse can still play a supporting role if some volume loss is present alongside the laxity.
Sometimes non-surgical treatments can create meaningful improvement, especially when jowling is mild to moderate. They cannot remove significant excess skin or reposition facial tissue to the same degree as surgery. Your provider can help you determine what’s realistically achievable without surgery.
